I realised recently that i have been sprouting a bit of scuttlebutt to do with this new project i’m working on- Tales of the Iron-Binary. Volume One: Dirtbag Bourgeoisie- without really providing any insight into said scuttlebutt, this was remiss of me, it will go on no further.

The following are sections of transcript taken from the official dossier compiled by 1st Admiral R. T. Mandelbrödt of the Galactic Naval Fleet Anti-Piracy Task Force.

The IRON-BINARY is a ship, a pirate ship to be more precise, and to be even more precise it is a heavily modified Harbinger Class. H/W-Belfastique Quad-Engine Mass Propelled Battle Cruiser.
Exact records of when it was built either don’t exist or have been destroyed, but the base hull is a model of battle cruiser dating back approximately 853 years, thus the need for heavy and extensive modification as new technologies came into circulation.
Stories of the IRON-BINARY date back at least that long and possibly even longer in the outer reaches of Deep Space, leading many to conclude that the ship’s captaincy is handed on from generation to the next to keep the vessel active various speculations of how a successor is chosen have been put forth, however it would be safe to say that each captain would name the one to succeed them either on their death bed or at their retirement from the post. (it should be entered into the record that of all known captains only three have been killed, all others have retired at their leisure, there have also been no recorded mutinies.)
Stories of the countless crews of the IRON-BINARY are still told with great aplomb among the pirate havens and lawless bar clientele in the outer orbits, however it is only in the last two generations of crews that the stories and infamy has spread into civilised space, becoming something of a rallying point for dissidents against the G.N.F and all other manner of scoundrel.

Lazlo McCabe – (possible alias)
Real Name/Full Name: it is supposed that Lazlo McCabe is possibly an alias taken on at the beginning of his pirate career, however official records show that Lazlo McCabe seems to be the only name he goes by, this is not conclusive.
Species: Human (Homeworld: Cortairn)
Height: 5ft. 9 inch
Weight: 176 lb
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Green

Currently the IRON-BINARY is Captained by Lazlo McCabe, who gained the rank after his adoptive father announced him on his own retirement, he was tasked with finding a new crew to replace those who chose to retire their post along with their Captain.
Little is known of Lazlo’s past, he keeps most of the details of his youth very secret. It is known that he was an orphan, born on the planet Cortairn what he spent his formative years doing and how he came to be the adopted son of Bertram McCabe neither he nor Bertram or any of Bertram’s crew will tell. Lazlo is a more than capable space farer and, when called for, an adequate brawler- though it should be said that he is far better with a gun than he is with his fists.

Allegra Torrick –

Species: T’Shaarian (Homeworld: T’Shaar 5)
Height: 5ft. 3 inch

The Medical Officer and Navigator aboard the IRON-BINARY. Born on the jungle world of T’Shaar 5 the fifth of nine planets in the T’Shaar system. Torrick was the third of seven daughters of the warlord Gilbonn K'hoor Torrick and was already well known to the G.N.F by the time she was in her teens. Chosen by her father to oversee the running of weapons to and from supporting cells on T'Shaar 5, Allegra showed a natural talent for subterfuge and a high level of intelligence. Allegra was recruited to the IRON-BINARY after her first interplanetary weapons drop was scuttled by marauders and her life pod was picked up by Lazlo, hoping it was a lost cache. Allegra convinced McCabe to retrieve the weapons stolen from the destroyed ship and, after they were returned Allegra left the T'Shaarian weapons smuggling racket for intergalactic piracy.



H.4nK –

Linguist and Weapons Specialist aboard the IRON-BINARY. The H Class 4th Divisional line of toCONs have all but completely been decommissioned after approximately 250 years of work on their factoryworld of Automaar constructing other robots and automatons of burden, war-machines and pleasure-droids. [When a Task Oriented Construct is decommissioned it isn't destroyed or shut down, this is simply a term for outliving their primary use date-each batch of toCONs will work for 150-250 years after which they are decommissioned and considered D.E.A-Decommissioned Emancipated Automaton.] Hank was recruited by Lazlo while both were in the fringe system of Lorynchia, Hank's stay there had resulted in him having a contraband class A intercontinental ballistic type weapon illegally fitted in his left arm, this alone was reason enough for the G.N.F to issue a bounty for his capture or complete de-programming. Hank is to be considered armed and dangerous at all times, and for whatever reason is unshakably loyal to Lazlo and his other crew mates.

Other crew members are spoken of, but seldom seen; the bulk of the crew is made up of Task Oriented Constructs (toCONs) the one exception is Vonk, Primary Engineer and the one member of the former crew who decided to stay at his post, to make sure that whatever damage Lazlo did to the ship could be repaired and to make sure that the IRON-BINARY would always be able to outrun, out fire and out perform any other ship in the galaxies...
